Tools: Cross  tip  screwdriver 1-1/4-inch  spanner  wrench  attachment Torque   screwdriver Soldering  kit Torque  wrench Spanner  wrench Expendable  supplies: Silicone   compound Alcohol Cotton  swabs Solder References: Paragraph  16-16  for  removal  and  installation  of  threaded  screw  inserts. ITEM ACTION REMARKS REMOVAL a.   Eight   screws   (5)   and Use  cross  tip  screwdriver.  Remove  and Inspect  each  screw  and  its Iockwashers  (6) inspect  eight  screws  (5)  and  lockwash- threaded  screw  insert  (if ers  (6)  securing  access  cover  (1)  to present)  to  determine  if connector  case  (12).  If  damaged, any  is  defective.  If  a  screw obtain   replacement.   Lay to   one   side.   See   figure access   cover is  stripped,  do  not  replace 16-3. its  threaded  screw  insert. b.   Tiedown   straps   (13) c.  J1  (7),  J2  (10), J3  (8),  or  J4  (9) connector   wires d.   Connector INSTALLATION e.   J1   (7),   J2   (10), J3  (8),  or  J4  (9) connector If  the  holes  are  tapped, there  will  be  no  threaded screw  insert. Remove  any  tiedown  straps  that  are in the way. Record  location  of  wires  soldered to  terminals  of  connector. Use  soldering  kit.  Desolder  each  wire  con- NOTE netted   to   connector.   Inspect   insulation Place  heat  sink  on  bare sleeving  as  required.  If  damaged,  obtain part  of  wire  just  above replacement. area  to  be  resoldered. Remove  and  discard  defective connector. Obtain   replacement   connector. 16-10
