1. INTRODUCTION. Cable Assembly, Printed, Flexible-Switch (1A17A1W2) (NSN 5995-01-412-4381) may be

subject to a manufacturing defect which will render a receiver-transmitter Not Mission Capable. The Cable

Assembly is used in SINCGARS RT-1523B(C)/U (NSN 5820-01-365-2725) and RT-1523C(C)/U (NSN 5820-

01-363-6929). Use this Technical Bulletin to determine whether a Cable Assembly, either installed in a radio

or in stock, is defective. Defective cables will be returned to the manufacturer for repair and subsequent

return to the sending unit.

2. TEST CABLE ASSEMBLY INSTALLED IN RADIO. Test a radio for a defective Cable Assembly by checking

for incorrect display of FH when mode switch is set to FH-M during front panel switch check.

a. Remove all cables from RT front panel.

b. Set RT:

CHAN: MAN

COMSEC: PT

RF: M

MODE: FH

FCTN: OFF

DIM: fully CW

VOL: midrange and pushed in

Set RT:

Response: RT display reads "FPTST"

FCTN: TST

When RT displays "GOOD"

press RCU/2 keypad button.

You will have seven (7) seconds

to do the following step. If

RT times out, wait for display to

read "GOOD" and press RCU/2

keypad button to re-initiate the

Front Panel Test.

d. Set RT:

Response:

MODE: FH-M

If "FH-M" is displayed, the Flex-Switch

Assembly is good. If "FH" is displayed

the Flex-Switch Assembly is bad.

Remove and replace in accordance with

TM 11-5820-890-30-6, Chapter 5.

Return to manufacturer in accordance

with shipping instructions in paragraph
