RT KEYPAD BUTTONS AND USES
PURPOSE
KEYPAD BUTTON
These keys enable the operator to enter numbers. Most frequent use is for
1 THRU 0
entry of SC frequencies. They are also used for loading sync time via the RT
keypad, and for changing net IDs.
Press this key to determine the COMSEC key position being used; RT display
CMSC
will show TEK 1 thru 5 or KEK (Channel 6).
(COMSEC)
Ignore this key unless specifically directed by your SigO or NCS to use it.
It serves no purpose during normal operation of SINCGARS radios. This is
(Star)
present on some models and not on others.
Press this key to activate the passive late net entry feature of the SINCGARS
SYNC
radio.
This key is used to check, load, clear, and offset SC frequencies; and to check
FREQ
and change net IDs.
Press this key to determine data status which can read: 600, 1200, 2400,
DATA
16000, AD1 (Analog Data 1), TF (TACFIRE), or OFF.
NCS operators press this key when sending a Cold Start or net update ERF to
ERF
net operators. It is not used by operators.
(Electronic Remote Fill)
(on same key as "OFST")
Used in conjunction with the FREQ and CHG buttons, this key enables the
OFST
operator to offset SC frequencies by plus or minus 5 or 10 KHz. The offset
(Offset)
feature of the SINCGARS radio can be used only in the SC mode.
(on same key as "ERF")
When used in conjunction with the DATA, OFST, or CMSC keys, this button
CHG
causes the display to scroll through available data or options.
(Change)
This key is used only by NCS personnel and is rarely needed with current
LOUT
(Lock Out)
operating procedures. Operators may ignore this key.
Press TIME once to see the Julian Date; press it a second time to see sync
***TIME
time hours and minutes; press a third time to see sync time in running minutes
and seconds. Used in conjunction with the CLR and STO keys, the TIME
button allows entry of sync time via the RT keypad.
Used in conjunction with other keys, the CLR button enables the operator to
CLR
delete entries or stored data.
(Clear)
Used to load data into holding memory and to retrieve data from permanent
LOAD
memory. Also used to load radio.
Press the STO key to place data into permanent memory of the RT Use of the
STO
STO key is the last step in various operator procedures.
