AN/TRC-189 Net Radio Interface (NRI) System
SYSTEM PARAMETERS
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The AN/TRC-189 consists of one AN/VRC-46 VHF
Frequency: 30 76 MHz
Power: 5 W average; PEP 35 W
Radio Set (10 m whip antenna), two AN/VSC-7 UHF
225 400 MHz
35 W\2W average
Satellite Communications Sets (tripod mounted LP
2 30 MHz
100W\400W average
antenna), and two AN/GRC-193 HF Radio Sets (15 m
whip antenna). A sloping V or a dipole antenna can be
used in place of either of the whip antenna to increase
the effective range of communications.
HAZARD CONTROLS (to reduce or eliminate risk)
SYSTEM HAZARDS
Power Density Levels (PDL) ....
This system is able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety
standard. Establish a Nonionizing Radiation Protection Program (IAW guidelines
provided in this TB) .
Hazard distance from antenna ....
For the AN/GRC-193 radio set, exclude personnel to distances of 1.1 m (100 W) and
2.5 m (400 W) from the antenna.
RF shock/burn .....................
Observe standard RF shock precautions. Do not touch any system antenna when
energized.
Other.................................
Consult the equipment Technical Manual for other operator and/or maintenance hazards.
Do not operate the AN/GRC-193 Radio Set in a free space radiating mode inside of
buildings.
