AN/TMQ-40 Integrated Meteorological System (IMETS)
SYSTEM PARAMETERS
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The IMETS is a tactical automated weather data system used
Frequency: 30 - 88 MHz
Power: 50 W (SINCGARS)
for receiving, processing, and disseminating information to
1.6 30 MHz
125 W (Harris 5000)
provide timely weather forecasts. The AN/TMQ-40 RF
sources are two Harris Model 5000 HF transceivers and one
Single Channel Ground and Air Radio System (SINCGARS).
It utilizes two 9.75 m whip antennas mounted atop the
Standard Integrated Command Post Shelter.
HAZARD CONTROLS (to reduce or eliminate risk)
SYSTEM HAZARDS
Power Density Levels (PDL) ....
The SINCGARS is not able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the
safety standard and is not subject to radiation protection control. The Harris series
transceiver is able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety
standard. Establish a Nonionizing Radiation Protection Program (IAW guidelines
provided in this TB) .
Hazard distance from antenna ....
Exclude personnel to a distance of 1.2 m from the whip antenna.
RF shock/burn .....................
Observe standard RF shock precautions. Do not touch the antenna when energized.
Other.................................
Consult the equipment Technical Manual for other operator and/or maintenance hazards.
