| AN/MSC-64 (V) 1, 2, 3 Satellite Communications Terminal
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
SYSTEM PARAMETERS
The AN/MSC-64 is a UHF satellite communications terminal. It
Frequency: 225 400 MHz
Power: 10 100 W
utilizes either a low-gain omni-directional loop antenna or a high-gain
eight-element array antenna.
HAZARD CONTROLS (to reduce or eliminate risk)
SYSTEM HAZARDS
Power Density Levels (PDL) ....
Using either antenna, this system is able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in
excess of the safety standard. Establish a Nonionizing Radiation Protection Program
(IAW guidelines provided in this TB).
Hazard distance from antenna ....
When using the loop antenna, exclude personnel to a distance of 1 m from the antenna.
When using the array antenna, exclude personnel to a distance of 2.5 m from the
antenna. Do not transmit with personnel on the shelter roof.
RF shock/burn .....................
Observe standard RF shock precautions. Do not touch the antenna when energized.
Other.................................
Consult the equipment Technical Manual for other operator and/or maintenance hazards.
Specify use of dummy loads during maintenance operations.
