SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The AN/GRC-222 is a short range wide band digital radio set that

utilizes a 0.9 m parabolic dish antenna. It consolidates the

functions of the AN/GRC-144 Radio Set into one system.

SYSTEM HAZARDS

Power Density Levels (PDL) ....

This system is not able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety

standard.

Hazard distance from antenna ....

PDLs exceed the partial body safety standard at a distance up to 3 cm from the horn

aperture, however, since the antenna is normally elevated on a 15 m mast, operators do

not have access to the area between the feedhorn and the reflector.
