The AN/GRC-142 is a radio teletypewriter that utilizes an

400 W PEP
AN/GRC-106 Radio Set.

This system is able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety
standard. Establish a Nonionizing Radiation Protection Program (IAW guidelines
provided in this TB) .

Exclude personnel to a distance of 1.5 m from the antenna.
RF shock/burn .....................
Observe standard RF shock precautions. Do not touch the antenna when energized.

Power Density Levels (PDL) ....
This system is not able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety
standard.
Open/cracked waveguides .......
All open waveguides and the feed horn aperture produce potentially hazardous PDLs
within 2.5 cm. Exclude personnel from these areas and do not permit operation of this
system with any cracked, broken or open waveguide.
