SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
SYSTEM PARAMETERS
The AN/APX-72 is an airborne transponder providing automatic radar identification and
Frequency: 1090 MHz
aircraft position. It is operated in conjunction with ground based Identification Friend
Power: 5 W average;
or Foe (IFF). It utilizes a resonant stub type antenna. The system is activated by a
500 W PEP
coded interrogation, which normally occurs only in flight, and then for short bursts.

Power Density Levels (PDL) ....
This system is not able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety
standard and is not subject to radiation protection control.
