AN/AKT-18B Radar Data Transmitting Set (part of the AN/UPD-2, 7)
SYSTEM PARAMETERS
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The AN/AKT-18B is an airborne radio system that utilizes an omnidirectional blade
Frequency: 225 400 MHz
type antenna.
Power: 30 W average; PEP 100 W
HAZARD CONTROLS (to reduce or eliminate risk)
SYSTEM HAZARDS
Power Density Levels (PDL) .....
This system is able to produce potentially hazardous PDLs in excess of the safety
standard. Establish a Nonionizing Radiation Protection Program (IAW guidelines
provided in this TB) .
Hazard distance from antenna ....
Exclude personnel to a distance of 90 cm from the antenna. During normal operation of
this system, personnel are not subjected to a radiation hazard due to the use and location
of the antenna.
RF shock/burn .....................
Observe standard RF shock precautions. Do not touch the antenna when energized.
Other..................................
Consult the equipment Technical Manual for other operator and/or maintenance hazards.
